Itanagar, Feb 5: In view of the forthcoming general elections, Deputy Commissioner-cum- District Election Officer, Upper Siang, Hage Lailang held a press briefing session with media persons at headquarters Yingkiong  today to share the ongoing preparations and also to  generate awareness among the masses of the district in particular.
As per the Election Commission of India guidelines, Upper Siang District has already published its final electoral roll on January 5 this year and the district has a total of 25249 voters, 13106 in 34-Tuting- Yingkiong Assembly Constituency (ST) and 12143 under 40-Geku-Mariyang AC[ST] respectively.  The district has also enrolled 483 persons with disability voters.  
The DEO said that  voters can check their list from Booth Level Officers (BLOS) or ERO office Yingkiong if they want any information regarding the voter list and Polling stations.
Informing about the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Program), Lailang informed that robust SVEEP activities has been done throughout the district in all villages during Seva Apke Dwar camps, national and state level programme celebration occasions, public meetings etc., to generate awareness about whole electoral process especially targeting the new voters in the district. He further requested the public to avail benefits of SVEEP activities to have right knowledge about the electoral process.
He also informed that for free and fair conduct of elections, Police and magistrate are keeping constant checking at crucial areas so that forthcoming elections can be conducted in a free and fair manner.
In the meantime, he also requested all Arm License holders in the district to abide by the order of mandatory arms deposition during elections; failing to comply will invite strict action for cancellation proceedings of Arm License as per law.  
He also informed that first level checking of  EVMs have been done  in the presence of Political parties representatives  and it has been kept in strong room which is  24X7 guarded by security personnel.
Meanwhile, DEO Hage Lailang appealed to the public of Upper Siang to cooperate with the District Administration in maintaining law and order during the elections and for a free and fair conduct of upcoming polls.
Responding to the queries of media persons regarding facility for women voters, Pwds and Old age persons, Lailang informed that as per ECI instructions, two women Polling stations have already been identified at  34 -Tuting/Yingkiong AC and 40- Geku/ Mariyang AC respectively and separate queue and ramps for PwDs and the elderly have also been arranged at all Polling Stations.
