RONO HILLS, Dec 13: The Rajiv Gandhi University Employees Association celebrated its 28th Foundation day on the theme “Labour Welfare” on Thursday.
In his welcome address, Biro Taba, General Secretary RGUEA informed that the association was established in 1990 and it has been steadfastly contributing towards the growth of the University and employees welfare.
President RGUEA, Sollung Sonam in his brief address shared the various issues confronting labourers, contractual and contingency staffers and submitted a memorandum.
Vice Chancellor, Professor, Saket Kushwaha shared his myriad of experiences and urged all the employees to be dedicated in one's services and responsibilities. He shared that the productivity of each employee would help in leveraging the status and ranking of the University; which in turn would help the university in many ways. He also shared that pay of contractual and contingency staff would be raised.
Meanwhile, Kushwaha mooted the idea of having a welfare fund for the overall Labour Welfare in the University and suggested for opening a bank account and contributed a token amount of Rs.5000 (five thousand) only from his salary as the seed amount to start the welfare fund.
Chief Guest, Chairman Arunachal Pradesh building and other constructions workers welfare board, (APBOCWWB), Jalley Sonam shared how the labour movement in the State started and informed about various schemes which the labourers and workers can benefit after registering under the board.
