ITANAGAR, Sep 11: The 125th Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s historic Chicago address was observed today in a befitting manner in Arunachal Pradesh.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein attended the concluding function of at Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar in Deomali where he was accompanied by Minister PHE & WS, Wangki Lowang. “Today is a golden-lettered day of Indian history. On this very day, the whole world discovered a new India - mesmerizing and enchanting, enabling and all-encompassing as Swami Vivekananda rose to speak at the World Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893,” said Mein. Applauding the efforts of Ramakrishna Mission for its service in education & health sector besides taking up relief works, Mein assured the Swamijis that as they add on to their responsibilities for the welfare of the people of Arunachal, state government will strive more to increase its support.  On the 3-point memorandum submitted by the Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission, DCM assured that he would look into their demands and discuss the matters with concerned authorities. “We want Ramakrishna Mission to provide the best possible so that our children are not required to go elsewhere and I am extremely glad to know that this year’s Class X CBSE topper Jirdam Gameh is from Ramakrishna Mission School,” DCM added. He exhorted the students to make Swami Vivekananda their icon to lead an ideal life which would keep them close to their cultural roots. Lowang in his address, stressed on adopting the path of righteousness shown by Swami Vivekanada to have better tomorrow.
Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital Itanagar, Swami Vishweshananda, Secretary Ramakrishna Mission School Narottam Nagar Swami Achyuteshananda, Principal of Ramakrishna Mission School Narottam Nagar Brahmachari Tadatmachaitanya also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister accompanied by Minister PHE & WS inaugurated the Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Vidyalaya where they paid homage to the statue of Lord Buddha in school campus and offered flowers to Holy trio of Sri Ramakrishna, Ma Sarada and Swami Vivekananda amidst Vedic chanting by the monastics. Prizes were also given to the students who participated in various competitions organized by Ramakrishna Mission, Narottam Nagar.

As a mark of commemoration of the 125th anniversary of Swamiji’s Chicago Speech,  Universal Brotherhood Day was observed in a grand way in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Nirjuli today which was attended by Assembly Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona as Chief Guest.
Emphasizing on the importance of brotherhood, Speaker called upon the students to follow Swamiji’s teachings to become better citizens and urged them to inculcate a sense of oneness and brotherhood among each other. Stating that one of the most important factors in achieving success in life is self-belief as Swamiji quoted, Sona encouraged the students to believe in themselves and work hard for a brighter future.
Further, lauding the contributions of VKV in the state in education sector, Speaker appealed the teaching community to discharge their duties sincerely for quality education of students. Education Officer, VKV APT S.C Dixit, through a Power Point Presentation highlighted the inspiring story of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the activities of Vivekananda Kendra for brotherhood and harmony. Principal of the school K K Reena highlighted the idea behind celebrating the function as Universal Brotherhood Day.
Patriotic songs performed by students, mock speech of Swami Vivekananda which he had addressed in the World Parliament of Religions in 1893, skit on Swamiji’s journey to America and traditional dances were other attractions of the celebrations.  
Meanwhile, Universal Brotherhood Day was observed today at the Government Higher Secondary School Auditorium in Tezu commemorating the iconic speech of  Swami Vivekananda.
Recalling Swamiji’s message of mutual tolerance and religious acceptance, AC Sunny Singh as Chief Guest said that his ideas and principles are still relevant in the present context. As a Guest of Honour, Principal GHSS Mijum Lego advised the youths to imbibe the ethos of Swamiji to be better citizens. Highlighting the annual achievement, Principal VKV Tezu Suresh Kr Behera said the school has come a long way and from Class III in 2010 it has upgraded up to Class X with an overall student strength of 400 and extended gratitude to all stakeholders, well-wishers, parents and staff for their holistic support for the overall development of the school.  
Skit presentations on social evils, conservation and promotion of trees, Swamiji’s journey to Chicago, patriotic songs and classical & modern dances by the student were other major attractions of the day-long celebrations. With inputs from DCM, Speaker Media Cell
