MECHUKHA, Feb 9: Despite being different in culture, we the people of Arunachal Pradesh are united, stated Honchun Ngandam, Minister RWD, while attending the Sonam Losar festival of Memba community of Shi-Yomi district at Mechukha on Sunday evening.
"Unity is our biggest strength and despite being different in many ways such as our culture & tradition we are one," he said while calling upon the members of Memba community to preserve and protect their aged old culture.
We cannot live without culture and it is the responsibility of each one of us to maintain it, he asserted.
Extending gratitude to the people of Mechukha especially Speaker Pasang D Sona for inviting the leaders of TLC, Ngandam further lauded their warm hospitality.
"We will spread with beauty of Mechukha and goodness of its people in our places," he stated.
Food & Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mossang said, "We are totally mesmerized by the beauty of Mechukha and the hospitality of its people."
He however called upon the people especially youths of Mechukha to refrain from drug addiction which has no cure. He appealed them to dwell in length on the issue and work to curb the menace of drug abuse among the young generations. Earlier, in his welcome address, Speaker Sona thanked the esteemed guests for joining in the Losar festival despite their busy schedules.
Among others present on the occasion were Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte, Koloriang MLA Lokam Tassar and host of dignitaries.
Later, the dignitaries released a book titled "Rich Legacy of Memba" authored by Cheeden Goida and edited by Dr Mianzi Hazam.
The book touches on the political, socio-cultural and religious aspects of Memba tribe and their gradual development from the beginning to the present time. Media Cell
