ITANAGAR, Jun 14:The All Papum Pare District Student’s Union (APPDSU) strongly opposed the order issued by education department on May 28 last, wherein M/S Arunachal Traders, Naharlagun was appointed as carriage contractor for carrying textbooks from the RCPD, Godown, Guwahati to District Headquarters without mentioning any direction to the appointed Carriage Contractor to deliver textbooks to schools of all the districts after textbook verification are made by DDSEs. .
Seeking intervention of Education minister in the matter, it requested him to issue necessary directive to education department not to make payment till textbooks are delivered to each student via DDSEs or carriage contractor.
It raised apprehension that most of the textbooks will rot again in the storerooms of DDSE offices as in the past owing to lack of fund provision allotted to DDSEs for carriage delivery.
Terming the contract agreement made by department as complete failure, the union claimed as per the supply order, the carriage contractor appointed for the said work will supply the textbook to District Headquarters only who then after obtaining NOC from DDSEs will walk away with payment leaving all the textbooks under disposal of DDSEs.
Further requesting the Education Minister to ensure that every student gets their rights, it raised fear that if the supply order is not corrected immediately then it will deprive the poor students studying in government schools of the State.
