ITANAGAR, Feb 17:  Kargu Kardi Students Union (KKSU) has levelled corruption charges against the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) for siphoning off Rs 30 Lakh meant for the construction of community hall cum auditorium at Liromoba in West Siang district.

Addressing reporters at press club, President KKSU, Tuko Gako alleged that the concerned department along with the contractor siphoned off development fund worth Rs 30 Lakh sanctioned under SIDF (2016-17) for the construction of community hall cum auditorium at Liromoba.

Armed with RTI documents, Gako further claimed that the work order for the said project was issued on 29 March 2017 and within 48 hours the completion report for the said project was issued on 31 March 2017. “It is height of corruption. Moreover photo of an old community hall constructed by the Public Works Department on 27 February 2017 was shown to withdraw the said fund.”

Alleging the department and contractor, KKSU president also levelled allegation against one Nyamo Karbak who happens to be the brother of local MLA Nyamar Karbak is also involved in the scam by presenting him as one of the witness of the completed project.

“We have submitted series of memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner West Siang, Chief Secretary who is also the Chief Vigilance Officer and even FIR was lodged in Police station, Aalo but till date no concrete action has been taken by any of the authority,” stated Chairperson, Fact Finding Committee KKSU, Kenjum Gadi.

Gadi, further demanded immediate construction of the said community hall/ auditorium as per the project as well as action against the persons involved in the embezzlement of fund.

Official from DRDA and Contractors could not be contacted for their comments on the allegation levelled by the student’s organization.
