Itanagar, Jan 29 (PTI): Two officials of the Education Department in Arunachal Pradesh have been arrested for alleged malpractices and irregularities while implementing several flagship schemes in the state, a police officer said here on Wednesday. Former deputy director of school education (DDSE) of Kamle district Likha Togur and junior engineer Pani Jubi were arrested on Monday evening, Special Investigation Cell, Superintendent of Police, M Harsha Vardhan said. Both were on Tuesday produced before a court which remanded them in police custody for seven days, the SP said. The SIC was investigating a regular case registered against the Education Department of Kamle district for alleged irregularities in the implementation of several flagship schemes such as CMSSY (Chief Minister Samast Shiksha Yojana) ISSE (Integrated Scheme for School Education), and Samagra Shiksha.
"During investigation, we found that without proper implementation of work, fake completion certificate was submitted to draw money from the fund," the SP said. The case was registered in 2019 and the exact amount of misappropriation of fund was yet to be ascertained, he said. "The matter is under investigation," he added.
