ITANAGAR, May 29: In a tragic incident, two people died on the spot on NH-415 between Itanagar-Naharlagun near Shiv Mandir when a truck carrying tiles lost control and fell into a deep gorge.
The incident occurred on Thursday night at around 10 pm when a heavily loaded truck bearing Registration No. RJ-14GJ-6942 fell into the gorge near Shiv Mandir in between Itanagar-Naharlagun. Truck driver identified as Om Prakash Choudhary (35 ) native of Mundawara, Rajasthan and Co-driver Manoj Kr Choudhary of the same village were killed in the incident, informed Superintendent of Police, Capital Region, Tumme Amo.
Later, with the help TK Engineering, tiles were removed and the dead bodies recovered and taken to RKMH mortuary. A case has been registered vide ITA PS C/NO-132/2020 U/S 279/304(A) IPC , informed SP while adding that the bodies have been taken to TRIHMS for post mortem examination. Their closest relatives and local guardians, viz M/S Veer Teja Marbles & Granites Tiles, Lekhi village have been informed accordingly, the SP informed.
Offering condolence over the loss of lives, Executive Engineer Highway, Nani Tath informed that some portion of the under construction culvert has been also damaged in the incident, which may take some more days to complete.
Later, EE Highway along with officials of TK Engineering inspected the site to review the damages.
