ITANAGAR, Nov 26: Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker, T N Thongdok on Monday presided over the Inaugural Session of the two-day National Orientation workshop on ‘National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA)’, organized by Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly in collaboration with Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Government of India at Dorjee Khandu Auditorium, Legislative Assembly Itanagar.
The e-Vidhan is a Mission Mode Project under the Digital India Programme, Government of India on the theme of ‘One Nation One Application.’ National e-Vidhan Application is to be implemented in all the state/union territory legislative locations. It is a sophisticated e-governance solution, which fully automates the functioning of legislatures and significantly minimizes paper usage with online communication, which is in line with the ‘Go Green’ initiative of the Government of India.
The two-day workshop includes technical sessions and group discussions which would facilitate exposure for the delegates about the positive attributes of NeVA; deliberations on issues faced by different State Legislatures in implementation of e-Vidhan and finding solutions thereof. The focus of the workshop would be to encourage all State Legislatures to move towards e-Vidhan platform and bring in transparency, accountability and responsiveness in their conduct of business, through the use of technology.
Addressing the delegates in the inaugural session, the Speaker, while stressing on need of transparency in working of assembly, said that the information regarding the functioning of the Houses should be available in real time, in a format that is user friendly and increases its applicability for the member. He hoped that NeVA will bring Legislatures closer to citizens, thereby taking a decisive step in achievement of substantive democracy.
Earlier, in his special address, S N Triparthi, Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, GoI, briefed about the salient features of NeVA and how it helped Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
