ITANAGAR, Aug 12:  Former Chief Minister and the newly appointed President of Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Nabam Tuki has commented that political leaders who had joined BJP will return back to Congress the moment the century-old party will be in power as their roots are still with the Congress family.
Addressing the media here at Rajiv Bhawan today, Tuki said they will work together to strengthen the secular ideology of Congress from the grassroots level and regain the glory of the party in the state. “I firmly believe that Congress will regain power both at the Centre and the State in the 2024 general election,” Tuki said.
While responding to query on abrogation  of Article 370 and its apprehension in Northeast, the new President APCC, stated that it is difficult to  presume the  intentions of the BJP government but the method of sudden abrogation without any intimation and without taking the native people into confidence is totally wrong. “Who knows, today it’s Jammu and Kashmir but tomorrow it might be Arunachal,” added Tuki.
He also categorically asserted that State Congress will strongly oppose the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) as well as PRC to non- APST. Moreover, any attempt to repeal BEFR Act (Inner Line Permit) will also be strongly opposed by the Congress, he asserted. Further, speaking about the strategies of the upcoming Panchayat and Municipality elections, he said that they will definitely field candidates and participate in both these elections to make the grassroots party organisation strong.
“Although we are few in numbers in the State Assembly, we will  keep watching the activities of the  BJP-led state government  and accordingly raise  our  voice against the odd activities which are not conducive for the common people,” said the newly appointed  APCC President.
