PASIGHAT, Nov 14: One day training programme on “sustainable and quality production technology of khasi mandarin” was held at College of Horticulture and Forestry, East Siang District, Pasighat. The programme was sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi under All Indian Coordinated Research Project on Fruits, Pasighat Center, Pasighat.
The programme was hosted by Toge Riba, SMS KVK Pasighat and initiated by a welcome address by Dr. L. Wangchu, PI (AICRP (Fruits). All together 35 farmers from Depi Moli, Kangku, Kebang, Rottung, Kakki, Beging and other nearby villages participated in the training programme.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Ahuja, In-Charge Dean, CHF, Pasighat emphasizing on adoption of advance technology in farming and also cited the progress of farming in Assam state through IPM.
In the technical session, Dr L. Wangchu, Associate Professor and Principal Investigator of the project presented recent advances in mandarin cultivation with special reference to location specific problem relevant to the district. He also talked about the major pests and deficiencies in Khasi Mandarin.  Later, a brief presentation was on Water Management, Planting Techniques, oil palm and field crop respectively.
In the second half, trainees along with resource person visited the citrus nursery and oil palm field in the college and clarified doubts and problems faced in the field.
