ITANAGAR, Feb 24:
CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology Branch Itanagar organised a training programme on cultivation of mushroom at Pachin colony today.
Senior technical officer Dr. Budhen Ch Baruah highlighted the medicinal and food value of edible mushrooms and also emphasized on its organised cultivation for self sustenance as well as societal development.
Urging people not to consume wild mushrooms until their proper identification, he stressed on domestic cultivation of known varieties available at NEIST Branch Itanagar through simple scientific method. He highlighted the micro, mini and marginal mushroom farming towards self sustenance and socio-economic impact.
Practical demonstration on preparation of mushroom bags and free mushroom spawn were distributed to participants for trial cultivation.
