PASIGHAT, Sep 18:Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority as a part of it endeavour to equip all stakeholders of the Juvenile Justice, POCSO Act, 2012 and other Child Protection Schemes for better understanding and optimum applications and provisions for children rights and redressal and in continuation to the similar programme at Itanagar recently, formally organised a two day training session cum orientation programme for Principal Magistrates, government officials, NGOs including members associated with child protection of the districts of East Siang, West Siang, Lower Siang and Upper Siang at Pasighat today.

The resource persons for the programme included subject experts Geetanjali Goel, Special Secretary, Delhi State Legal Services Authority, Marie Riba, Advocate, International Justice Mission, Elizabeth V. Koshy, Psychologist, International Justice Mission, Saptarshi Biswas, Director of Justice Solutions, International Justice Mission, an internationally acclaimed NGO from Kolkata, West Bengal .

On the first day, Budi Habung, Member Secretary, APSLSA underscored the importance of various stakeholders in the successful implementation of the child protection act and schemes as provided on the JJ Act, POCSO Act etc.

Later during the interactive session, resource persons addressed doubts and queries raised by the participants.

Earlier on Monday, the state’s 10th Legal Literacy Club was opened at IGJ Govt HS School, Pasighat. This is in line with the NALSA Scheme on opening of Legal Literacy Club in schools and colleges, as a step towards formal sensitization of legal rights and knowledge among school going children.
