ITANAGAR, Jan 10: Ahead of commencement of Skill Development Training courses in Retail, IT-ITes and Electronics to be pursued by the state’s 180 youths, Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship today organized a briefing-cum-send-off-cum-orientation programme here at Udyog Sadan for them.
These students will be trained by Assam Professional Academy (APA), Guwahati which is an empanelled Training Provider under the Centrally Sponsored State Managed (CSSM) component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) being implemented by the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, GoAP. The selection process involved Skill Development Sensitization, Motivation and Trainees Selection Rallies held in all district headquarters. After completion of training they will have an opportunity to get placement, which is the ultimate objective of the programme. Director, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Subu Tabin along with Deputy Director P.K Das and Assistant Director J. Riba briefed the youths about the training programme, train journey, essentials to acclimatize in new place, food habit, security precaution, dedication, discipline etc. The cost of the training fees, to and fro travelling, boarding & lodging etc. are borne by government under PMKVY, which is a central flagship programme on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. APA’S courses will incorporate both theory and practical aspects, including soft skills like Spoken English, communication skills, digital literacy etc and at the end of training, candidates will undergo a third-party assessment to be conducted by an empanelled and professional organization. Trade certificate will be provided to the successful candidates by the concerned Sector Skill Council (SSC) & Nation Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and at least 70% of the candidates are expected to get job/placement.
Director informed that 5095 candidates have so far been trained in 15 various sectors under PMKVY and 1159 got job offer/placement and are currently working at various parts of the country in various capacities which include Cabin Crew and Airline Ground Staff. Under Chief Minister’s Yuva Kaushal Yojana, 244 candidates are undergoing High-end Skill Development Training at Guwahati and 38 are undergoing employable degree courses in Team Lease Skills University Vadodara, he added.
