ITANAGAR, Nov 26: The mobile inspection team (MIT) of Department of Legal Metrology conducted surprise inspection of trading units located in and around D-Sector and G-Extension at Naharlagun here today.
During the course of inspection, various natures of irregularities were detected at 22 trading premises. Accordingly, they have been booked for violation of the provisions of Legal Metrology Act, 2009. Of them, 14 cases were related to Packaged Commodities who were found selling products without mandatory information or erased MRP whereas rest of the eight cases were for using unverified weights and measures as well as for non-production of verification certificates.
Following booking of the cases, the violators have been instructed to follow the rules strictly so that the common consumers do not sustain losses.
