ITANAGAR, Mar 7:The joint working committee of Arunachal Pradesh trade union (JWCAPTU) on Wednesday lauded the state government in particular Chief Secretary, Satya Gopal for the assurance to place few of their long pending charter of demands in the next cabinet meeting.

Informing this in a press conference held this afternoon at press club, Chairman, JWCAPTU, Changma Tajo disclosed that the assertion came following a high level meeting held on March 1 last under the chairmanship of CS at civil secretariat.

Expressing satisfaction over the outcome of the meeting, Tajo informed that CS after reviewing all the demands placed by them termed it genuine and hinted that that many of them would be met in the forthcoming cabinet meeting, thereby putting an end to their yearlong protest.

Referring to one of its core demands that is enhancement labour wages, he called for enhancement of the wages of unskilled labourers from current Rs 7000 at least to Rs 10000.

Tajo requested the government to find a way so that the unskilled workers could get specific minimum wages  at par with labourers in other states with utmost priority.

On assurance from the state authorities that their grievances will be looked into, the union has decided to keep its agitation in abeyance to give a suitable time to the government to fulfill the union’s demands.

It may be noted that the trade unions under the aegis of the joint Working Committee of Arunachal Pradesh Trade Union (JWCAPTU) had staged series of protests such as pen & tools down , hunger strike along with peaceful dharnas to press for their demands since last two years.

Few of the long-pending demands of the employees includes, enhancement of wages of contingency worker from existing to Rs.18000 as per national level, regularization drive for workers who have completed 12 years and above, implementation of voluntarily retirement scheme (VRS) policy in all working departments like power, PHE, WRD etc, release of ad hoc bonus of Casual/Contingency workers for the year 2019-10 etc.
