KHONSA, Apr 23: Due to the ongoing lockdown as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, the award ceremony of Towang Lowangdong merit scholarships for Nocte students that was earlier scheduled for April has been cancelled and it has now been decided to transfer the scholarship amounts through DBT (Direct Bank Transfer) to the respective bank accounts of 18 such students.
These scholarships will be given to the meritorious Nocte students for academic sessions 2017-18 and 2018-19. It was first initiated in 2001 by the paramount chief of Borduria and present MLA of 57 Borduria-Bogapani (ST) AC Wanglin Lowangdong in memory of his father Late Towang Lowangdong, one of the co-founder of Namsang Borduria Fund and was implemented in order to inspire, encourage and motivate the meritorious students of the Nocte community for commendable academic performance in CBSE/ICSE Class 10, 12 (Humanities) and 12 (Science) with Rs.20,000, Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 for the first, second and third toppers respectively.
Wanglin Lowangdong, the present paramount chief of Borduria and Tirap Deputy Commissioner P.N. Thungon have extended congratulations to all students and their parents for the achievement. DIPRO
