Khonsa, Dec 15: Tirap Police in association with 1st IRBn and District Administration has managed to escort 102 persons of Tirap district that included patients and students stranded in Tinsukia, Dibrugarh and other locations in Assam due the ongoing bandh call given by anti-CAA protesters there.
The rescue operation went on continuously for three consecutive days w.e.f December 13 to 15. Displaying enormous courage at a time when even Assam police hasn’t escaped wrath of protesters, Tirap Police has transported all the stranded persons from these locations which are beyond their jurisdiction. The entire operation was supervised by DC Tirap P. N. Thungon and SP Tirap Kardak Riba, ably supported by ADC Khonsa Jalash Pertin. Superintendents of Police, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia also played supportive role by providing local police as and when needed. On the intervening night on December 14, 1st IRBn jawan team from Namsangmukh, Tirap reached the Digboi Oil Refinery and also escorted three petroleum tankers one each for Deomali, Khonsa and Longding which successfully reached their respective destinations within an hour and a half.
