Khonsa, Jun 14: Tirap Deputy Commissioner Bhanu Prabha on Sunday made a visit to Khela village which is 12 km away from the district headquarters here with the objective of selecting and identifying the cluster farming area and interacting with the FPGs/FPOs.
After hearing the problems and grievances of the villagers, DC explained the benefits of scientific farming and the positive effects of doing away with subsistence agriculture and practicing the commercial form. While reiterating that the new methods of farming will usher in financial self-sufficiency, she assured the farmers that all assistance and guidance will be provided by the government machineries. Appreciating the successful progressive farmers Tejoang Socia, a pisciculturist and Litnya socia, a vegetable farmer, she encouraged them to go for increasing the produce further. Later, DC inspected all the education institutions at Khela including the academic & administration blocks of the newly built Eklavya Model Residential School, 50-bedded girls hostel and visited the Upper Primary School and interacted with the parents and teachers.
Earlier on arrival, DC was accorded a warm welcome by the villagers headed by Chief Tumwang Lowang and was presented the Nocte Galey and fruits & vegetables as a token of goodwill gesture. On the occasion a memorandum was submitted to her which conveyed the needs of irrigation and an agro-link road in the area. Responding to the memorandum, DC assured to extend all-possible help.
