Khonsa, Jul 6: After the emergence of two more Covid-19 positive cases at the GREF Facility Quarantine (FQ)- Tirathju Hydel, the Tirap District Administration has decided not to allow any new GREF returnee to the centre, although the existing inmates currently serving mandated quarantine periods will be allowed to continue.
This was conveyed by Tirap Deputy Commissioner Bhanu Prabha who visited the GREF Tirathju FQ on Sunday, accompanied by SP Kardak Riba and DMO Dr. Koblem Mossang. The GREF officers were also directed not to allow any returnee of the force move out from the FQ without order of the DA except for emergency cases. DC informed that in case of any medicine requirement for the inmates, the DMO will provide them so that unnecessary movement can be checked. She asked the GREF officers to strictly comply with the advisory issued vide No. DC/KSA/Covid-19/2020 dated June 18 which prohibits movement of staff and officials of the 103-RCC GREF, except for procurement of essential commodities and urgent medical needs.
The DA has expressed concern that the increase in positive Covid cases at the Centre has been due to non-compliance of the Government SOPs and lack of adequate supervision by the concerned GREF authorities. Citing the medical report received on July 4 which showed that two more new cases have been added at the Centre, DC informed that the FQ at 103-RCC (GREF) camp at Tirahtju will be closed with immediate effect for the new GREF returnees who will now report to the Paid Facility Quarantine being supervised by the DA.
However, the inmates currently observing quarantine tenures at the facility will be allowed to continue under condition of strict compliance of SOPs to be closely supervised by the concerned GREF Officer-in-Command. DIPRO
