Khonsa, Feb 10: The District Transport Office and Traffic Police of Tirap district is observing Road Safety Month from February 15 to March 14 next.
In his key note address, District Transport Officer Aman Wangsaham, while addressing vehicle owners and drivers, highlighted about the road safety issues and emphasized the importance of adhering to the Motor Vehicle Act and traffic regulations for the safety and security of passengers.  
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Tirap, Hento Karga said that the month-long observance will make the people aware about the traffic rules to avoid frequent accidents, he stated that drivers should not mix drink and drive together to ensure road safety because most of the road accident causes is due to carelessness on the part of drivers. 
DC underscored the crucial need for adherence to traffic rules and also administered a road safety pledge to the participants.
During the event, SP Tirap Rahul Gupta, stressed on traffic safety protocols, SOPs, essential knowledge of the Motor Vehicle Act, the significance of proper documentation and strategies to prevent fatal accidents were imparted to the public. 
Er. Nani Tath, EE(Highway), EE(PWD), Er. Taro Jeram, OC Police Station, Khonsa, DMO Dr. N. Lowang, Dr. O. Taggu were also present during the programme.
