DOIMUKH, Mar 10: Thousands of people comprising students, family members and well-wishers joined the candlelight vigil on Sunday organised by the All Papum Pare District Students Union in solidarity with the 12-year-old student who died in a school recently.
The solidarity march demanding justice for the 12-year student started from Doimukh Welcome Gate and culminated at Rising Star International School,Emchi.
Speaking on the occasion, family members appreciated all the participants, students’ organizations, and NGOs for standing with the family during this trying time. Speaking to the media, the father of the victim said that the family has sought the intervention of the authority in getting justice for his daughter and exemplary punishment against all the culprits involved in the incident that led to the death of his child. “I don’t want another family to lose their children like this,” he said.
Earlier, an Executive Member of APPDSU informed that a presentation has been submitted to the authority demanding capital punishment for all the culprits involved in murdering the student. We want immediate arrest of all the culprits involved in the incident. We want fair investigation and justice for the victim's family, and proper action to stop the practice of ragging & torture in public & private schools. Proper SOP (standard operating procedure) in all schools. The union also demanded stern action against the school management committee.
