Aalo, Jan 12: Thousands of tearful mourners comprising family members, relatives and well-wishers from West Siang and different parts of the state paid their last respect to Boken Ete, the legendary grand old man and architect of West Siang, as his mortal remain was laid to rest here at his residence on January 10 last.
Galo Welfare Society(GWS), West Siang Unit made elaborate arrangements to carry the legend’s mortal remain in a procession which went to his native village Bene where he grew up, the RK Mission School which he founded single-handedly and different other locations as a mark of homage to the departed soul. Markets and business establishments remained closed on January 11 as a mark of respect. Ex. Minister and second son of late Ete, Kento Ete read out the legend’s contributions in detail while the grandson read out condolence messages of the State’s Governor, Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, President of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Ministers and MLAs.
Speaking on the occasion, Secretary GWS Nyage Loya while hailing late Ete as the father of Galo society said his demise is the end of a vibrant era and wreathed the Galo flag on his mortal remain. Representatives from various organizations, unions, societies, NGOs etc. also paid their floral tributes to the noble soul. DIPRO
