ITANAGAR, Sep 25:Citing shortage of teachers in Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts which is consequently hampering the education system, the Wancho Students' Union (WSU), All Tangsa Students' Union (ATSU) and Nocte Students' Union (NSU) has demanded a special cadre for DoTCL in recruitment of teachers to ensure sufficient teaching staff.

A delegation also called on the Education Minister, Honchun Ngandam at his office today and placed a memorandum in this regard.

Expressing their disappointment over the constant transfer of teachers from the three districts, the Unions in a joint statement informed that the shortage of teachers in the region is affecting the future of the children and hampering the education system of the TCL belt.

Asserting that no one from outside TCL is ready to serve in these three districts and are availing transfers, it added that this trend is creating difficulty in maintaining Pupil Teacher Ratio (PTR) as per RTE norms in almost all schools and thus violating various RTE norms as well.
