PASIGHAT, Apr 18:

 

During a developmental tour of his home constituency in Bodak and Seram villages on Tuesday, Mebo MLA cum Advisor to Chief Minister, Lombo Tayeng, distributed CGI sheets to residents under MLA local area development fund and also inspected the ongoing flood control works at Siluk Korong near Siluk village.

 

 

While addressing the public at Bodak, Tayeng said that, the people of the picturesque village situated along the Siang River should tap the tourism potential of the popular picnic spot while managing the river bank properly.

He suggested the area be declared plastic free zone and basic amenities for visitors/tourists which in turn will generate income for many youths of the village. He also encouraged villagers to take up Orange cultivation on large scale as the climate is favourable.

 

Similarly, at Seram village also Tayeng advised both horticulture & agriculture department along with cultivators to explore the feasibility of multiple crops suitable in the area for large scale cultivation which will give enough livelihood to every farmer of the village as most of the villagers are agriculture dependent.

 

The MLA accompanied by Dy. Commissioner, Pasighat, Tamiyo Tatak and others inspected the ongoing flood protection works at Siluk Korong. Seeing the urgent need to construct the flood protection measures, the duo said that, the entire downstream villages under Monggo Banggo areas will also be saved by the protection. Tayeng said that, more additional funds will be sanctioned for the effective construction of the flood protection.

 

Later in the afternoon, the flood protection works at Siku bridge side along NH-52 was also inspected.
