TAWANG, Apr 27: Tawang District Administration on Monday convened a meeting here at the Conference Hall of DC office with the members of CBOs and students’ unions of the district to discuss and finalize the list of persons stranded outside the state due to the nationwide lockdown.
The meeting chaired by DC Tawang Sang Phuntsok was attended by SP, ADC, Padmashree awardee Lama Thupten Phuntsok and members of ATDSU, AMSU and MMT. ADC Lobsang Tsering informed that around 960 stranded persons from Tawang have registered online on the Google platform out of which DA would give priority to the stranded students in the first lot numbering 332 who will get Rs 3500 credited to their bank accounts by Monday evening. Lama Thupten Phuntsok requested the student leaders to help finding out the genuine students stranded outside and also to check thoroughly the list prepared by the DA to avoid duplication. From students’ side, request was placed before authority to consider the left-out students who couldn’t fill up the online registration forms due to one or more reasons.
DC informed that initially DA received a list of 1523 stranded persons, but after contacting all of them, a shortlist of 960 has now been prepared and priority would be given to the confirmed 332 students in first lot. The next lot will be ready for transfer of amount within one or two days after due verification, DC informed adding that it is the collective responsibility to make sure that all the genuine persons get the benefit and no one is left out making sure along with that no double payments are made.
DC further divulged that a ‘Committee of Officers’ has also been formed to examine and verify the genuineness of the applicants. DIPRO
