ITANAGAR, May 17:

The All Arunachal Pradesh Border Students’ Union (AAPBSU) today criticised the state government for sending a puny team after tension broke out at the interstate village of Uli under Kangku Circle in West Siang district recently.

The union alleged that while the Assam government rushed a high level team comprising of IAS, SP etc, the Arunachal side dispatched a team comprising of three police constables with In-charge OC to assess the situation.

Highlighting the hardships being faced by the tribal people living alongside the Assam boundary from Durpai to Kamcham, compromising 27 villages having more than 6000 population, the Union alleged that despite knowing the plight of the people, the government never takes any immediate and proper action. It further attacked the Arunachal government for failing to safeguard encroachment of local land by Assam violating the Supreme Court order to maintain status-quo.

The union has strongly called upon the government to take action immediately in such situation and deploy adequate forces in sensitive areas to safeguard the land of the people living in the border areas.

Further the union also requested the concern authority to immediately send a DC and SP along with required force for immediate functioning of Lower Siang District.
