DOIMUKH, Jul 1: The 71st Van Mahotsava 2020 was observed in a befitting manner here on Wednesday marked by a  tree plantation ceremony organized by the department of Forest and Environment, Doimukh.
Minister, Agri-Horti, Fisheries and Veterinary Tage Taki along with MLA 14-Doimukh AC Tana Hali Tara, DC Pige Ligu, SP Jimmy Chiram and SDO Doimukh Saboddam Tayeng planted trees at the Midpu police traffic point.
 Later, addressing a public gathering, the minister while citing the importance of Van Mahotsava  urged all to plant more trees for a greener Arunachal to tackle the alarming trend of rampant deforestation. 
Responding to the request of the MLA for formation of a Forest Protection Force to protect the vast forest reserves of the state, the Minister suggested to work out the modalities to involve the village volunteers for guarding forests and wildlife. He also informed about the important initiatives taken up by the Agriculture department for the benefit of the state’s famers and handed over sanitizers and masks to the officers and staff of the department. Tara spoke on the importance of tree plantation and requested the visiting Minister to convey the Forest Protection Force formation request to the state government. 
DC appealed the people to promote agri-horti and fishery activities to become self-reliant. SP informed that the Police department is undertaking a tree plantation initiative and so far, 350 trees had been planted in the district. DIPRO
