Naharlagun, Aug 24: Annual Review Meeting of the Agriculture Department was conducted today here at the Directorate of Agriculture to review the progress and achievement of various state as well as centrally sponsored schemes.
Minister, Agriculture etc. Er. Tage Taki and Secretary, Agriculture Bidol Tayeng along with all departmental officers from districts and Directorate attended the meeting. Agriculture Minister advised the departmental officers to apprise the ground reality to the state government/policy makers well in advance so that policies which are more beneficial for the farming community can be devised. He exhorted the officers to work hard and change their mindset for timely achievement of targets and emphasized on formulation of district specific projects and place them for consideration keeping in mind of the limited time left for doubling farmers’ income by 2022. He also informed that such review meetings shall be conducted once in every six months.
Director of Agriculture Anong Lego requested all districts officers to put forward their problems and critical issues along with presentations and complete all process of implementation of various schemes as early as possible so that additional fund can be obtained both from the state and central governments. Deputy Director of Agriculture (Development) T.D Neckom gave a Power Point Presentation on the overview of the department and various central and state schemes being implemented. He also apprised the critical issues like infrastructure needs of newly created districts, dilapidated conditions of residential/non-residential buildings, manpower shortage etc. to the Minister and requested him for early perusal.
Taki along with the senior officers visited the State Bio-Control Laboratory, State Seed Testing Laboratory and State Soil Testing Laboratory here at the Directorate of Agriculture Complex to gather first-hand information on the functioning of these laboratories.
Secretary, Agriculture also advised the departmental officers to be pro-active to accomplish the mission for doubling farmers’ income by 2022 which is a mission for both GoI & State Government. All districts officers/ DDOs presented the district-wise progress reports through Power Point Presentations on physical and financial achievement of various schemes implemented during 2017-2018 to 2018-2019. District specific issues and constrains were also conveyed to the Minister and Secretary Agriculture.
