TAH compensation controversy

ES Reporter

ITANAGAR, Jul 12:Days after two Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs from Raga and Ziro constituency distanced themselves from the ongoing Trans Arunachal Highway compensation imbroglio and cautioned the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee to prove their involvement in the mess within 10 days, the APCC Chief Takam Sanjay today dared the duo to file defamation cases.

Addressing newspersons at Congress Bhawan, Sanjay opined that ‘APCC out- rightly rejects the defamation threat issued by the two BJP MLAs which is totally uncalled for. However we are ready to face the case,’ he added. Terming the whole imbroglio a criminal conspiracy, high level corruption and match fixing corruption, he said the state government cannot run away from it.

While slamming the state government, Sanjay said ‘ the state government as well as Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein along with all three MLAs of the Lower Subansiri district are answerable as to why the actual 24mtr road has been reduced to 14 mtr and where is the compensation amount of those reduced 10mtr  land.’

Moreover, the whole meeting held on 11 January 2017 is illegal as  there was neither any  file movement nor any notification has been issued against the meeting that was held amongst the representatives to reduce the land acquisition for road, stated the APCC Chief.

Further, questioning the arrests of few bureaucrats and public leaders in connection with the compensation mess by Special Investigation Cell, Sanjay termed it as mere eyewash as they were made scapegoats to shield the big names.

‘ As per record, the then  Lower Subansiri administration  under the nose of the state government  paid Rs 3.50 crore  from the land compensation  amount to one businessman whereas the said businessman doesn’t own any land  in the said area,’ stated Sanjay  while informing that APCC  will move the governor of Arunachal Pradesh as well as  knock at  the door of judiciary, if the state machinery failed to unearth the truth behind the multi-crore scam.
