DOIMUKH, Sep 20:Rajiv Gandhi University launched the Swachta hi Seva programme in the campus with the programme flagged off by Prof. Amitava Mitra, Vice Chancelor RGU today.
During the programme the faculty members, staff and students cleaned the campus and took oath to maintain cleanliness in the campus. In his speech Prof. Mitra highlighted about the various nationwide programmes under Swachha Bharat Mission and informed that, Swachta mission is no more just a government scheme rather it has become jan andolan. He stressed that everyone has to contribute towards taking care of one’s own home, place of work and other public places so that the momentum of this national movement for cleanliness is sustained and achieved for well being of all. He encouraged the students to maintain the clean and green campus of RGU and to strive for the betterment of its surroundings.
While thanking all participants, Gomar Basar NSS programme officer and coordinator of the programme informed that, this year under Swachta hi seva programme in the University, cash prizes and trophies for cleanest hostel, cleanest department, cleanest branch and cleanest colony has been instituted. Therefore he encouraged all to proactively engage in the swachta mission in the university. John G Gangmei NSS programme officer informed that Swachta hi seva programme will continue for 15 days in the campus and it will conclude on 5th October with declaration of prizes under various categories.
