ITANAGAR, Jul 16: As a part of the ongoing nationwide celebration of Swachh Mahotsav 2019 being organised by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Swachh Sunder Sauchalaya Day was observed today where winners of Swachh Sunder Sauchalaya Contest 2018 under SBM(G) from the state were felicitated here at Banquet Hall by the Public Health Engineering & Water Supply Department.
Top 10 Household Beneficiaries were honoured for their best painted toilets under Swachh Sunder Sauchalaya painting competition held during the last financial year along with 10 Sarpanchs who were awarded for their outstanding contribution towards sanitation. Moreover, 3 Best Performing Districts were awarded namely Tawang, Namsai and West Siang.  
Speaking to the gathering, Minister PHE&WS Wangki Lowang who was the chief guest stressed on the importance of sanitation and the need for a change in mind-set of the people for converting the movement into a ‘Jan Andolan’. He requested the media houses to play proactive role in spreading the messages of health and hygiene to every nook and corner of the state. Congratulating the awardees, he gave away the mementos along with certificates to the best Household Beneficiaries, best performing Sarpanchs and the Best Performing Districts. 
Additional Secretary, PHE & WS, Government of Arunachal Pradesh Ranphoa Ngowa, Mission Director, SBM (G) Sentum Yomcha, IFS, Deputy Commissioner Namsai Dr. Tapsaya Raghav, IAS, ADC Tawang Bekir Nyorak, EAC Aalo Cheechung Chukhu, NGOs like APWWS and Child Welfare Committee, Itanagar attended the event. Few of the Swachhata champions, field functionaries, Sarpanchs and special invitees also shared their experiences and success stories. Chief Engineer (E/Z), PHE & WS Department Tomo Basar appreciated the Team Sanitation for organizing the day within a short period of time.
In Arunachal Pradesh, Public Health Engineering and Water Supply Department, which is the nodal department for implementing SBM (Grameen) is celebrating Swachh Mahotsav 2019 with all beneficiaries and stakeholders across the state. Newsdesk
