TAWANG, Jul 10: ‘Swachh Sundar Shauchalaya Day’ under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) was observed today here at DC Conference Hall as a part of the series of events undertaken by the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation across the country to mark the journey of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which will be completing five years on October 2 next.
In this regard PHE&WS Division Tawang organized a felicitation programme for the five best performing Sarpanchs, ten best household beneficiaries from Swachh Sundar Shauchalaya contest and two best NGOs for supporting Swachh Bharat Mission in Tawang. 
Executive Engineer PHED Tawang G.Mize conveying his gratitude to all for their support in making Swachh Bharat Mission(Grameen) successful in the district, also appealed them to maintain Tawang’s status of ODF free and cleanest district in the whole of Northeast. 
CO Tashi Wangchhu congratulated the prize recipients and reiterated for the best utilization of funds sanctioned for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. 
President EPS(NGO) Jambey Dondu conveyed his thanks to the PHED &WS Division and requested the district administration to completely ban the use of plastic carry bags. A short video on the success story of Swachh Bharat Mission in Tawang was also shown during the programme. Swachh Mahotsava has also commenced from June 28 and will continue till  October 2. DIPRO
