Nyapin, Jul 12: Swachh Mahotsav 2019 was observed with full enthusiasm by the Sangram division of PHE & Water Supply department recently.
Shop owners, bazaar committees, school children, teaching staff and local administration actively participated in the programme which is a national initiative under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) launched by the Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Government of India. AE PHE, Tabuk Taga introduced the Swachhta Summer Internship Programme to the student of GHSS Nyapin. Later, dustbins were distributed to all the shopkeepers, schools, offices and IB besides tree plantation drive in school campus.
Nyapin Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kento Riba spoke about the overall aims of the programme which are to benefit the health conditions of common people by improving general cleanliness and balancing the environment against global warming. Sangram PHE & WS Division Executive Engineer, Bamang Tadh informed that Swachh Mahotsav is a part of the follow-up activities of SBM (G) for the sustainability of ODF status which Kurung Kumey district has already achieved during 2017-18. Further, he warned the shopkeepers and other beneficiaries against misuse of dustbins and called for ensuring their purposeful use.
Meanwhile, a similar programme was also organized at Sangram SDO headquarter wherein mass tree plantation around Sangram IB was conducted besides distribution of dustbins and other SBM (G) IEC materials. More such  programmes are scheduled to be organized in all the circle headquarters like Koloriang, Sarli and Parsiparlo, EE informed.
