BALEK, Jul 16: Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme (SBSI) 2019, a central government initiative which allows students to gather practical ground-level experience concluded today with four internees successfully completing the programme.
Under the guidance of Assistant Professor, NSS PO cum Course Coordinator, Dr. Kento Kadu, four internees namely Api Talom, Nungki Dai, Seema Kumari and Kuja Mida, all NSS volunteers of JNC Pasighat enrolled themselves for the programme which was of 50 hr duration. Balek village of East Siang district was chosen and various activities such as field visits, door-to door awareness campaign cum interaction programme, surveying and segregation of solid waste management, etc were conducted.
During the programme, internees identified polythene bags as one of the major pollutants of the village and distributed cloth bags to the villagers as an alternative. On their request, PHE& WS Pasighat division also donated a few dustbins to the village.
