NAMSAI, Jul 9: In a joint representation to Deputy Commissioner-Namsai, All Namsai District Students Union (ANDSU) and All Tai Khampti  Singpho Students  Union (ATKSSU)  has  urged for immediate initiation of construction works of drainage system in entire Namsai Township and  immediate steps for removal of the structures which have been or are being constructed by the public / private persons while violating the right of way.
In its press statement, the unions claimed that the entire Namsai Township submerges in water during the rainy season due to poor drainage system. Further, the solid wastages and garbage can be seen dumped on both sides of the roads without any attention being paid by the Department of Urban Development and Housing, Namsai, stated the press statement.
The government had released huge funds relating to the construction of a drainage system and management of solid wastes and garbage for Namsai Township. The scheme for construction of barrack for Sanitation Assistants at Namsai has also not been executed yet claimed the unions.
