ITANAGAR, Sep 29: Displaying a noble approach, students from Intaya Public School Roing in collaboration with I-Clean Roing Campaign conducted an Anti- Plastic Awareness Programme amongst the vegetable vendors and shopkeepers today here at Roing market area.
During the awareness programme, students distributed leaves and also replaced the plastic carry bags with green leaves to be used as thread and wrappers. Locally known as ‘Alana’ in Idu dialect, the leaves are available in the area and are biodegradable in nature. “ At least 30 students from class 8, 9 & 10 participated in the programme being organized by the I Clen Campaign Volunteers,” said the Principal Intaya Public School-Roing, RP Tiwari. He also informed that Sunday being the busiest day for Roing was the perfect day to create awareness because from different villages and even from Assam, people come to sale and buy vegetables on this day. “We are obliged that our students have participated in the event to create awareness to protect the environment, stated the Principal, adding that the school also has a contingent of Green Commandos (students) who beside academic activities are engaged in protection and preservation of environment.
