ITANAGAR, Jan 30: Sticking to its stand , Nyishi Ethnic Students of Arunachal (NESA) has demanded public apology from both Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein for hurting the sentiments of indigenous people by assuring PRC to Non-APST of Lekang.
The organization has also demanded immediate roll back of the statements assuring the granting of PRC, failing which they will call phase-wise democratic movement from February 4 next.
Speaking to reporters at Press Club today, President NESA, Biri Chattum informed that the organization has already submitted memorandum to the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh regarding the burning issue of PRC and all the illegal activities happening in the Lekang constituency. “We have also demanded transfer of incumbment Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police Namsai for their failure to control the situation in Lekang,” claimed Chattum.
He further alleged that authority has failed to impose Unlawful Prevention Activities Act-2014 against the various organizations in Lekang repeatedly calling bandh and harassing innocent public. “If incumbent CM and DCM are incompetent to protect the indigenous rights then they should step down from their respective chairs,”slammed NESA President.
“We are not against the Non-APST people but we are protecting our rights and we cannot share our rights,” added spokesperson NESA Byabag Dui . He further informed that if government fails to withdraw its statement on PRC, NESA will resort to phase -wise democratic movement starting from sit-in dharna on February 4 and indefinite hunger strike from February 13 followed by Capital bandh in the next phase.
