Mani, Jan 17: Deputy Commissioner Papum Pare Pige Ligu inaugurated the Student Police Cadet (SPC) programme in presence of SP Jimmy Chiram, DDSE Yupia and Principal GHSS Doimukh.
The programme was attended by Headmaster GSS Mani, RGU, teachers, students and police personnel. DC said that School Police Cadet project envisages to inculcate discipline and civic sense among students and exhorted the students to take full advantage of the programme and refrain from wasting time in unwanted social activities which are detrimental to their careers. He further requested the police department to create more awareness on traffic rules and drug addiction during the SPC programme in schools. SP said that SPC aims to strengthen the relationship between police and public adding that it will not only help in developing the personalities of students but will go a long way in securing their future. DDSE, Yupia and Headmaster GSS Mani also spoke on the occasion.
In Papum Pare district, Government Higher Secondary School, Doimukh, Government Secondary School, Mani and RGU have been initially selected for conducting Student Police Cadet Programme. Students will be given training on crime prevention & control, values and ethics.
