Ziro, Aug 5: The Student-Police Cadet  Program  for various Government  Secondary and Higher Secondary schools of Lower Subansiri District was formally inaugurated today by Minister, Education, Culture and Indigenous Affairs  Er. Taba Tedir in presence of Minister Agriculture, Horticulture Vet. etc Er. Tage Taki here  at Abotani Hall, Hapoli.
Addressing the newly inducted student-police cadets,  Tedir said that the GoI  initiated  program provides an opportunity to know the police force and instill a sense of respect for the men in uniform. “You will have to be the eyes and ears of the police, since they have their own limitations and cannot be present everywhere,” he said. “This program will go a long way in inculcating discipline, empathy, integrity and patriotism among students,” he added. Urging the students to take the event seriously, he stressed that no student should drop midway during the course.
Lauding the event as a remarkable initiative to instill patriotism and discipline in the lives of the students, Agriculture Minister also hoped that the program will help in moulding students into law abiding citizens.
SP Lower Subansiri District Dr.Hemant Tiwari highlighted the main activities of the programme. He informed that 80 boys and 70 girls from Dani Kunya Government Higher Secondary School, Government  Higher Secondary School, Hija,  Government Higher Secondary School Yazali, Mihin Bagang Government Secondary School, Hapoli and Government Secondary School Yachuli will be trained as Student-Police Cadets. Topics like community policing and students, road safety and traffic awareness, fight against social evils, disaster management etc. will be taught. Moral and social ethos like patience, tolerance, empathy and sympathy, team spirit and discipline shall also be discussed in detail, he further informed.
Among others Deputy Commissioner Chukhu Takar, DDSE Hibu Tama, EAC Priscilla Tayeng, teachers, police officers  besides the students attended the program. DIPRO
