ITANAGAR, Apr 21:  Asserting all the districts to introspect on how to improve family planning more effectively and to conduct a proper analysis of data recorded to omit any discrepancy, Director family welfare, Dr. M Lego proposed the requisition in a one-day state level orientation and sensitization workshop for DMOs/DRCHOs and gynaecologists on the family planning indemnity cum review meeting held on Friday.

Underscoring the importance of family planning, Dr. Lego emphasized on fertility regulation for reducing the birth rate.  

He also informed the sterilisation is an important component of family planning, therefore, to provide more quality of sterilisation service, Government of India has introduced the national family planning insurance scheme since November 25, 2005 which has been modified into family planning indemnity scheme with effect from April 1, 2013 to enhance the credibility of programme and to build confidence of client with better safeguard from adverse events.

“A broader basket of choice, a method mix of contraceptive injectables centchroman and PoPs (progestin only method) has been introduced into the public health system, as well as Nirod, mala D, & mala N have been re-introduced with new packaging and makeover to make contraceptive more attractive,” lamented Gynecologist TRIMS, Dr. Goter Doke.

Deputy Director family welfare, Dr. Amping Perme categorically said there should be coordination between DMO, DRCHO, and gynaecologist in the districts and stressed that the districts should keep abreast of any latest new updates.
