PASIGHAT, Jul 19:

Larger part of East Siang district and headquarters Pasighat is reeling under darkness since themidnight of Sunday when a high voltage storm lashed the district disrupting power supply along 132 and 33 kv lines.

According to EE, Transmission and Planning, Er. Ojing Tekseng the extent of damages to the 132 kv line near Rottung village along Pasighat-Pangin Road is huge. However, the official was optimistic that if weather is favourable the line can be restored by Friday.

EE Power, Er. Joram Lali also informed that restoration work on 33 kv line is going on and is likely to be restored on Thursday. “I am trying to reach out to my JE on the site to get the latest status of the restoration work, but due to interior location of the site, I am not been able to get the exact status. However, we are hoping to get the lined restored by within next 24 hours. In the mean time the supply from Assam line is being made available on load shedding. Assam line was also damaged early 1.45 am this morning beyond Jonai, but was restored at around 1.30 pm today afternoon,” added Er. Lali.

Meanwhile, residents of Pasighat in particular have questioned the Department of Power for its inability to restore power supply despite passing of 48 hours and more.  While few are questioning the quality of the infrastructures many have taken to social media to air their grievances.
