ITANAGAR, Jan 31: Retired IFAS and first Chief Secretary of the state, Matin Dai passed away on Friday following a cardiac arrest.
Late Dai hailing from Balek village, East Siang District, Pasighat joined as Base Superintendent now Circle Officer in 1956 and later posted at Bameng, East Kameng as Asst. Political Officer (APO) in 1962.
Dai was inducted to IFAS (Indian Frontier Administrative Service) in 1964 and posted at Chayangtajo, Seppa, East Kameng. Dai had served as ADC, Tawang in 1972 and Deputy Commissioner of Bomdila in 1974, then Secretary, Revenue and Boundary Affairs from1981-85.
He was the Chief secretary from 1988 to 1991 and retired as the first Chief Secretary of the state in 1991.
