ITANAGAR, Sep 20: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW), Itanagar has vehemently condemned the gang rape of two minor girls in Namsai on September 5.
The team who arrived at Namsai on Thursday  to get first-hand information, visited the Police Station and spoke to SP Ankit Kumar Singh and Investigation Officer. It was informed that five alleged accused were booked under POCSO Act. The four alleged accused were arrested on September 6 whereas one absconding alleged accused was attested the next day.
As per information, the incident took place on September 5 at around 9-10 am in a rented house at Namsai. The statements of the victims have been recorded and evidences were seized from the place of occurrence, the APSCW said in a release this evening.
The team also visited the victims and their families. They informed them regarding the Arunachal Victim Compensation from the government and suggested if they need any help the Commission will fully cooperate with them. They also urged early submission of charge sheet along with the medical report and other relevant documents and urged the IO to expedite the investigation.
Further, the Commission appreciated the Namsai Police for their prompt action and early arrest of all the accused persons. It also requested people from all walks of society to co-operate with the police for smooth investigation of the case. Newsdesk
