ITANAGAR, Jul 10: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has urged the State government and the 3 MPs from the state to impress upon the Central government to extend adequate relief, rehabilitation & re-construction packages in view of the large-scale loss of life and property caused by the ongoing natural disaster. 
A team of the union led by its Vice President (Admin.) Meje Taku on Friday visited various areas affected by flash floods and landslides in & around the Itanagar Capital Region to assess the severity of damages. The team also visited the landslide location at 6 Kilo Area (Modi Rijo) between Naharlagun & Itanagar where a heavy landslide claimed 4 lives and damaged dwelling houses. AAPSU has also called for devising an immediate full-fledged disaster mitigation & relief plan to deal with the impending emergencies, particularly identification of proper evacuation sites in all vulnerable districts including the Capital Complex. The union through its release said that the entire machinery of the State administration should respond to the disaster with extreme seriousness and has appealed the state’s people to follow the necessary disaster-related precautions and advisories along with  sticking to all the Covid SOPs. A directive has been issued by the apex students' union to all its federal units i.e. District Students’ Unions (DSUs) to voluntarily extend support and cooperation to the respective DAs.

AAPSU has also extended condolences to the family members of all those who lost their lives at Tigdo and 6 Kilo (Modirijo) and has appealed to the State government to extend necessary ex-gratia to all those who have lost their lives and are currently undergoing treatment. AAPSU
