ITANAGAR, Jun 11:The press fraternity of Arunachal Pradesh has deeply mourned the sudden demise of noted journalist Xavier Rusta, who passed away at the age of 42 on May 11 at his residence in Kohima, Nagaland, following a stroke.
Late Rusta, who started his career in journalism from the Nagaland Post, was serving his second term as the president of the Kohima Press Club. He was also a senior correspondent for the Times of India.
“The Arunachal Press Club (APC), Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ) and Arunachal Electronic Media Association (AEMA) shares the pain of the Nagaland press fraternity in losing one of their most important members, and extend our heartfelt condolences to them”, said APUWJ president Amar Sangno on the sidelines of the two minute silence observed by the state press fraternity paying respect to the departed soul, at the Arunachal Press Club.
“The state press fraternity at this juncture would also like to extend its condolences to the bereaved family members of late Rusta. Our words may not give much relief to the grieving family members of late Rusta but we want to inform that our minds and prayers are with them during this difficult phase of their lives”, he added.
“We also pray the almighty for eternal peace to the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss”, Sangno further added.
