PASIGHAT, Apr 27: While addressing the State Level Review Meeting on Intensified Malaria Control Project-III (IMCP-III) here today in the Pasighat Horticulture College auditorium, East Siang Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak advised the doctors to work with missionary zeal for the benefit of all sections of society.

Noting that community participation is most crucial in prevention of vector diseases, the DC suggested the department to conduct rigorous and frequent awareness campaigns regarding the preventive steps to be taken by the people in their communities. He said, doctors perform humanitarian work in society and are responsible for increased life expectancy and improved well-being in society. In view of the emerging challenges, he urged people to rely on the symptomatic treatment for vector borne diseases like malaria, dengue and chikungunia etc and to report nearby health centers immediately.

Doctor-patient relationship must be maintained fairly, Tatak opined.

Earlier, Joint Director Health Services cum State Program Officer, Dr. Allok Yirang in his keynote address highlighted the objectives and target goals of NVBDCP and gave an overview of the malarial epidemiology in the state. Yirang also mentioned that when disease outbreaks occur, information provided by doctors can help contain the epidemic. They also check the spread of disease by alerting the public to factors such as poor hygiene and risky behaviors that spread disease. He

The review meeting is also being attended by State Nodal Officer KT Mullung, Dr. Hage Tabiyo State Consultant, ZMOs Dr. KM Lombi and Dr. Ngemu as resource persons. DPOs and Consultants from all districts of Arunachal are attending the review meeting.
