SEPPA, Dec 16: MLA Seppa East Tapuk Taku inaugurated the 24th State Level Under 21, junior and Cadet Level Karate Championship held at Nyokum Lapang ground here today.
The championship is organized by the East Kameng Karate Association (EKKA) in collaboration with the East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organization (EKSWCO) and the formal competitions will start on Tuesday next.
Encouraging the participants to look at sports as an opportunity and its importance for a sound body and healthy mind, Taku said that there are many job opportunities when a person excels in any sport. The state government of Arunachal Pradesh has the Quota reservation for those meritorious sportsmen in various government departments, he added.
He also added that besides healthy body, sports also builds self-confidence, disciplines the child and gets the child outdoors boost in personality development.
Earlier, the Arunachal Pradesh Building & Other Construction Worker Welfare Board (APB&OCWWB) chairman Jalley Sonam and the organizing chairman of Karate Championship P Nobin Jomoh also spoke on the day. ES Newsdesk
