ITANAGAR, Jul 30: State Minister for Youth Affairs Mama Natung along with former minister Nabam Rebia and MMA Coach Sidharth Singh inaugurated the first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), academy of Arunachal Pradesh known by Abrasumente Academy MMA and Fitness here at Ganga Itanagar on Tuesday.
Inaugurating the first state MMA academy, Natung expressed delighted at opening of first mixed martial arts in the state.
“Our youth have lots of potentials in the sports, the only thing we need to do is to tap it and channelize in right direction. I am happy that our youth are making Arunachal proud in distinct games and sports in the national and the international arena," said Natung.
Minister Youth Affairs and Sports who himself was a Karateka informed that state government is giving priority to youth affairs and sports and a considerable amount of fund have been allocated to promote sports like Wushu, Boxing, Karate and Badminton.
Natung further assured all possible help to the Abrasumente MMA Academy to mixed martial arts in the state. He hoped that through the academy the state would bring laurels in the combat sports competitions.
Crosstrain Fight Club (Delhi) head coach Sidharth Singh who attended the function as as special guest exhorted, “Let’s put Arunachal Pradesh in the map of MMA with this new academy”. Sidharth Singh, who trained Higio Taarak in Delhi, is the only Indian Brazilian Jit-jitsu (BJJ), brown belt.
Sharing his objective in founding MMA academy, founder and head coach of Abrasumente, Higio Taarak said that it is for providing world class MMA training for the people of the state so that the state can produce national as well as international champions and professional fighters in the future.
‘Abrasumente’ is taken from the Spanish proverb 'Abrasumente a la realidad' which translates to 'Open your mind to reality'. Newsdesk
