ITANAGAR, Mar 18: The official Gazette Notifications for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Arunachal Pradesh were issued today.
Accordingly, acting on the notifications, issued separately by the President of India to elect members in the parliamentary constituencies of 1-Arunachal West and 2-Arunachal East and by the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh to elect members for the 60 Legislative Assembly constituencies of the state, the Election Commission of India has released the official dates,applicable commonly for both the elections.
The last date for making nominations will be March 25 and the date for scrutiny of nominations has been fixed on March 26. Last date for withdrawal of candidature will be March 28. Polling will be held from 7 am to 5 pm on April 11 and elections must be completed before May 27.
Under Section 31 of Representation of People Act, 1951, all the Returning Officers of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies have issued public notice inviting nomination of candidates specifying the place at which the nomination papers are to be delivered.DC-cum-DEO, Aalo is the Returning Officer of 1-Arunachal West Parliamentary constituency while DC-cum-DEO, Tezu is the Returning Officer of 2-Arunachal East Parliamentary constituency.
No nominations will be received by the Returning Officers on March 21, 23 & 24, all public holidays under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881. Expenditure Observers appointed by the ECI have reached the election district HQs and General Observers are also likely to reach shortly. The entire process of scrutiny will be carried out in presence of the General Observers. CEO Press Release
